Archiving Policy

Samalas Journal of Geoenvironmental (SJG) is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published content. To ensure that scholarly research remains available for future generations, SJG has implemented the following archiving strategies:

1. Digital Preservation

SJG ensures that all published articles are digitally preserved through:

  • Institutional Repositories – Published articles are archived in the official institutional repository of the journal’s hosting institution.
  • LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) – The journal partners with digital preservation networks to maintain redundant copies of its content in multiple locations.

2. Self-Archiving by Authors

Authors are encouraged to deposit their published articles in:
Institutional repositories
Disciplinary repositories (such as arXiv, ResearchGate, Academia.edu)
Personal websites

Authors may self-archive the accepted and published versions of their articles without any embargo period, provided they cite the original publication in SJG.

3. Indexing and Database Archiving

To enhance visibility and long-term accessibility, SJG ensures that all published articles are indexed in major academic databases and digital archives. The journal is working towards inclusion in:

  • Google Scholar
  • DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals)
  • CrossRef (for DOI registration)
  • Other relevant indexing services

4. Backup and Redundancy

To prevent data loss, SJG implements:
Regular backups of journal content on secure cloud storage and dedicated servers.
Multiple copies of published content stored in geographically distributed locations.

5. Policy on Journal Discontinuation

In the unlikely event that SJG ceases publication, all archived content will remain accessible through institutional repositories and digital preservation partners, ensuring continued availability for researchers and the academic community.

Through these archiving measures, Samalas Journal of Geoenvironmental guarantees the long-term accessibility and integrity of its published research.
